There's so much to tell you that I don't even know where to begin. Well, first off, we don't have electricity. As most of you probably know, there was a huge wind storm on Sunday afternoon and it knocked down trees and power lines all over Ohio. It's been declared a state of emergency. Our power went out along with 200,000 other people and as of today, we still don't have power back yet. Luckily my in-laws got theirs back on last night, so we're staying with them for now. 2 trees on our street came down completely and blocked the street. One was directly across the street from us and landed partly in our yard and the neighbor's driveway. We're so thankful our big tree out front didn't come down b/c with the way the winds were blowing, it would have come down right on our house. So, that's the most pressing problem right now......
Let's see, last I posted, Brian had another "episode" and wrecked his car. They "think" it was another seizure, but could never prove it. His car was considered totaled, so now we're down to one car, not that he can drive for awhile anyway. He did get to go ahead and have his back surgery. Here's the scoop on that:
Last Thursday, my parents arrived at our house at 6:45am so we could leave for the hospital. They stayed with the kiddos. The surgery was scheduled to start at 10am. They took him back 30 minutes early, but apparently didn't start until about 10:15. The surgery was supposed to take 3 hours, but took 4. His surgeon came out afterwards and said that everything went great (he was eating while he was telling me this by the way...lol) and that he should be out in a day or two. He was supposed to be in recovery for a couple of hours, but after 2 1/2 hours, I went up to the desk to ask about him and they said they were having trouble getting his pain under control and wouldn't send him upstairs until they were done. Well, by this time, it's going on 5pm and Jack needed to eat and they were running out of bottles at home, so I ran home to feed him. I was home maybe 30 minutes and took the kids over to my parents and back to the hospital I went. Luckily Brian had just gotten to his room before I got there. He was very bad shape. His pain was excrutiating and they never did get it under control, so they sent him up anyway. Nice, huh? They had him on a morphine pump and it just wasn't working. To look at my husband, who's been through so much already, and see tears in his eyes from pain just broke my heart. I stayed with him until after visiting hours were over (and until I couldn't keep my eyes open) and headed to my parents to get the kids and then home. We all crashed. Brian called me and said that the doctor ordered a different medicine in the pump and they were going to try that. Well, he didn't sleep at all that night and called me at 6:45 the next morning. lol. He thought that was a "safe time to call"....umm no! Oh, well. He apparently broke down in front of the nurse early that morning b/c he just couldn't take the pain and she called the doctor again and they upped the dosage and he was doing a tad better. What's so frustrating is that no one takes into account a man who's been on pain medicine for 3 years! He has a very high tolerance and they just weren't taking that into consideration. So, that morning, my MIL came over to stay with the kids so I could go to the hospital. I stayed until 1pm and then went home so that she could go. My parents were coming over to stay with the kids for the afternoon/evening. Well, right as I walked in the door, my MIL said the doctor had just been in and was talking about discharging Brian. What?????? I was not happy about that at all. He seemed to feel that with the meds he was sending Brian home with, he would be okay. Well, we all knew that wasn't the right thing, but ultimately it was up to Brian and they were practically pushing him out the door! They were doing his discharge papers before they even took him off the pump. It was ridiculous. So, long story short we got home and that night was hell. He didn't sleep at all and was in horrible pain. They never should have let him go. I had the surgeon paged the next morning and told him Brian was in horrible pain. He said to up his valium dosage and that with time, he'd get better, but if he wasn't better by Sunday, then bring him back to the hospital. Well, he was a tad better, so we held off. He really didn't want to be back in the hospital. He's held on and been doing well, but he's so worried about me going back to work next week, which brings me to my next subject.....
I go back to work in 6 days!!!! :( The time has flown by so fast, which I knew it would. I just hate that my time's already up and then to spend my last week off with no electricity at home! lol. It blows! I could really use your prayers about that. With Abby, it was winter and I was anxious to get out of the house, so I don't think I minded going back that much, but this time has just been great to be able to get out and be active and I'm dreading it so much! I keep looking at Jack and I just hate the thought of not being with him all day. Granted, it's not all been roses. Jack's a very needy baby. If he's awake and not eating, he wants to be held and that makes life hard! Now you know why it's been so long since I last posted! I just love him, though and I hate the fact that I can't be a stay at home Mom! Oh, well....some of us just can't.
So, that's what's been happening with me......taking care of lots of people! Please keep all those without power in your prayers! I know for us, I had just gone to the store and now all of our food is going to be spoiled and money's so extremely tight right now. I know that God will take care of us, though and if that's the worst thing that happens as a result of this, then we're still very lucky. All of those poor people in Texas have lost their homes and some their lives, so I do consider us lucky. Have a good week! Love you all!

Hey...glad to hear that the surgery went ok...I hope he just continues to get better and better. It would be hard to see him in so much pain! That is just crazy that they discharged him so soon. WOW.
Sorry that you have to go back to work next week and it has been such a crappy last week of maternity leave! I will say a prayer for you on Monday because I know it will be hard!!!
We still don't have power at our house, but my parents finally got theirs on last night. So, we stayed there and I never appreciated lights as much as I did last night. Craziness! I am ready for some normalcy!!!
Love ya!!!
Praying praying praying for you! God will get you through this, have faith.
Love you!
